Start Falling in Love with Yourself
Loving ourselves is sometimes a huge task. Unfortunately, we are too serious about ourselves, our projects, and everything we do. Treating ourselves with acceptance and love is not always easy as a result of that seriousness.
Using art as a tool might help you. I would suggest the following practices:
1. Drawing your hand.
Place one hand on the table comfortably. Think how many things your hand has done for you over the years. Observe all the wrinkles it has, all the lines, all the different colors you can see in what you thought was just one skin color.
Start creating an outline of your shape (a big shape) without any details. Do not draw fingers separately. It will look like a cloud. Now look inside that outline. Identify the next big shape you see and mark it on your drawing. Then the next one. Once all the big shapes are in place, start adding details. Once the details are in place, start adding s shadows. Once shadows are in place, find the lightest parts on your skin and use an eraser to show them.
Keep remembering about everything you can do because you have hands and keep observing until there are no thoughts, just observation. It is easier to do if you meditate. If you do not practice daily meditation then maybe you can consider adding it to your day because of so many benefits that meditation can give you.
2. Drawing your eyes.
Take a mirror and spend some time just looking yourself in the eyes. Look with curiosity. What is the structure? What details have you noticed now that you have not noticed before? What is the actual color of your eyes? Is white white? You continue with observing and then draw.
If you feel stuck, go to youtube and put in a search. You will have plenty of Edu videos.
I would still suggest starting with just observation and drawing what you can without getting ideas. Please feel free to email me or post on the Facebook group for suggestions.
Think how much your eyes have seen already. Think how much they can see. Think how your eyes are not separate from your mind and body. Feel your eyes. Your eye movement is connected to your thoughts. If you feel your thoughts are slowing down, your eyes will slow down. Enjoy these moments. Draw.
