Feeling you are running out of time?
I came across a great article on our time perception. The article says that we get older faster if we perceive time slipping away fast. Turns out that slowing down your perception of time might even slow down your aging?
I have to admit that I often feel like I am on a rocket ship and what happened only a couple of months ago feels like a lifetime ago. I also remember how when I was in 3d grade I felt that although it was the first day of school, the school year will be over in a blink of an eye. I am an old soul, I guess. Time for me slowed down only when I was pregnant or taking care of my kids during their first years of life. Oh, what a joy it was. Savoring every moment, drinking it as a nectar of love when giving was receiving and receiving was giving. My best life experiences came from these years.
After reading the article, I realized that I do know how it feels to perceive time as something going too fast or too slow. I remember how sometimes I wanted the remote control to speed up the painful periods to get out of them and …it never works because time immediately slows down even more. What we focus on expands, right?
My art practice allows me to do my own game with time. I am in charge of time. I can slow it down with art. The peace within that I reach while doing it is priceless. Another great thing is that I can help others do the same. Try it! The secret is that not everything will work the same, but there is something that will work for you. If you want to read the article, here it is.
